ISO norm 690 was updated to allow also prescribe the way references to text on electronic support are indicated.
First of all we must be acquainted with the terms specifically concerning electronic documents. Here they are.
Bulletin board [bacheca elettronica; babillard électronique]: computer system that distributes information and messages on given subjects to users connected to the internet.
Database [banca dati; base de données]: collection of data stored in an electronic form and made accessible from the computer.
Electronic document [documento elettronico; document électronique]: a document existing in electronic form and accessible through computer technology.
Host document [documento ospite; document hôte]: a document containing contributions or distinguishable components that however aren't independent from a physical or bibliographic point of view.
File [file; fichier]: an organized collection of data, usually containing interrelated records.
Discussion list [forum di discussione; forum de discussion]: Discussion group on a given subject involving subscribers to an electronic mailing list in which each participant's contribution is automatically sent to all other subscribers.
Computer program [programma informatico; programme informatique]: plan or agenda specifying a set of action in a way so as for a computer to be able to execute them.
Record [registrazione; enregistrement]: group of data usually considered as a unit; subset of file.
Electronic message system [sistema di comunicazione telematica; système de communication électronique]: system transmitting messages in an electronic form through local-area or wide-area networks.
