Une autre fonction très utile du dictionnaire Logos est celle de la possibilité d’avoir accès à des définitions des mots qu’il contient tout comme vous le faites avec les dictionnaires monolingue. Il s’agit d’un dictionnaire multilingue, toutefois, on y donne une définition dans chacun des langages qu’il contient. Voici un exemple pratique :
Je cherche le mot "casa" dans le dictionnaire. Je vois une page qui contient la traduction de "casa" dans une très longue liste de langages :
Comme vous avez pu le constater, il y a 108 traductions du mot "casa", dont certaines sont accompagnées d’un carré en vert pâle avec la lettre "L" près du mot. Dans ce cas il existe une définition dans exactement dix-huit langages. Bien sûr cela dépend du fait que jusqu’à présent aucun usager-coauteur n’a eu la possibilité d’insérer la définition dans son propre langage en ce qui a trait aux quatre vingt dix autres langages.
Si nous cliquons sur le L près du mot "house", nous pouvons lire la définition suivante : "A structure serving as a dwelling for one or more persons". Nous pouvons faire la même chose dans les autres langages disponibles :

Supposons maintenant que je doive décoder la phrase "pride before a fall" que j’ai trouvée dans un roman Américain contemporain. Même si la signification des mots individuels est suffisamment transparente, je me rends compte qu’il doit s’agir d’une citation implicite, mais je ne comprends pas d’où elle provient. Cela me donne deux possibilités de recherche : par mot clé ou par passage. Je connais le passage, comme dans mon cas, je peux insérer" Proverbs 16:18 et j’obtiens la version dont j’ai besoin :
